There are total three Stages in Company Secretary Course.

Eligibility to appear in CSEET Exams

A student after passing 10th Class may join CSEET Course. But he may appear in the CSEET Exams only after appearing in 12th Exams.

CSEET examinations are held in Remote Proctored (Online) Mode or any other mode as may be decided by the Council from time to time.. It means student has to appear in CSEET exams through his laptop/computer (Not phone/tablet) and attempt the exam through online mode at his/her home or any other comfortable place only. 

CSEET Exams Pattern

  • The paper is of 200 Marks total and has 4 sections.
  • The paper is in MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) Form.
  • A student shall be allotted 2 hours each to attempt the entire paper.
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers in CSEET.

Q. What is CS professional course?

Ans: CS Professional is a 15 months course after completing CS Executive. CS Professional consists of subjects like Governance, Risk Management, compliance and Ethics, Advanced Tax laws, Drafting, Pleadings and Appearances 

Q. What is the scope of CS professional?

Ans: After receiving a CS degree, the company secretary will become one of the company’s key officers.

Q. Is CS Professional tough?

Ans: Passing the CS Professional Program is most difficult for any student since it is the third stage.

Q. Who can apply for CS professional?

Ans: CS Professional can be done by students who have completed CS Executive.

Q. What happens after clearing CS professional?

Ans: After completing the professional program, you need to undergo practical training for a period of 21 months. This training can be completed either before or after clearing the professional program and provides hands-on experience in company secretarial practice.

Q. How many papers are there in CS professional?

Ans: The CS professional exam will consist of 9 papers, one of which will be an elective paper. According to the CS professional 2023 exam design, the Multidisciplinary Case Studies and one of the eight elective papers are open book exams.

Q. How many students appear for CS Professional exam?

Ans: Around 60,000 to 1 lakh candidates appear for CS Professional examination.

Q. Is CS Professional exam open book?

Ans: The Institute introduced Open Book Examination (OBE) in the elective subjects only.

Q. How to prepare for CS Professional new syllabus?

Ans: Concentrate on study material provided by the Institute and study other material such as Student Company Secretary, Chartered Secretary, recommended books and other publications on the subjects. Do extensive study and avoid selective study.

Company Secretary Course (CS) Course Details 2024

Company Secretary Course after 12th Details in 2023-2024

Company Secretary Course

Company Secretary Course is one of the most preferred Professional Course for Commerce Students. Students of other Stream may also pursue this Course. CS Course is conducted by ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) which is regulated by MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs of India).

Stages in CS Course

There are total three Stages in Company Secretary Course.

  • CSEET – CS Executive Entrance Test
  • CS Executive
  • CS Professional

A student willing to start CS after 12th Exams need to appear in CS Executive Entrance Exams. But in the following cases, there is no need to clear CSEET Exams.

Eligibility to appear in CS Executive Entrance Test in 2023 & 2024

  • 12th pass or appearing
  • 10th pass for provisional registration

Duration of CSEET Exams in 2023 & 2024

Duration : Two Hours (Total for all the four Parts)

CS Executive Direct Entry Scheme in 2023 & 2024

CS Training Structure

A student pursuing CS Course is required to complete the following requirements, as per the new training structure:

  • Executive Development Programme (EDP) of one month duration after passing of Executive Programme Examination;
  • Practical Training for Twenty One (21) Months after completion of Executive Development Programme on whole time basis during normal working hours,-

  • in a company having Company Secretary in whole time employment or any other company fulfilling such criteria as may be determined by the Institute; or
  • under a Company Secretary in whole-time practice fulfilling such criteria as may be determined by the Institute; or
  • in any other Body Corporate or institution or organisation or entity fulfilling such criteria as may be determined by the Institute;

  • After passing the Professional Programme Examination, a Corporate Leadership Development Programme (CLDP) for not less than thirty (30) Days but not exceeding sixty (60) days as may be determined by the Institute.

Scope of CS

Company Secretary is the back bone of a Company. He has to perform multiple tasks in a Company. A Company Secretary may also start his own practice. A Company Secretary is eligible to perform Secretarial Audit u/s 204 of the Companies Act, 2013.

Passing Percentage criteria at all Levels of CS Course i.e CSEET, CS Executive and CS Professional is same i.e 40% in Individual Exam and 50% in Aggregate.

Company Secretary Course is conducted by The Institute of Companies Secretaries of India. Company Secretary Course is considered one of the toughest Professional Course amongst other professional courses due to its low pass percentage. Actually there are three stages in this course and each level stage has its own varying pass percentage every time. CSEET is considered very easy due to MCQs only Exams and no negative marking. How to clear CSEET Exams very easily

As discussed earlier it is very easy to clear CSEET exams. But even though 25% to 35% students fail even in CSEET exams. So now the questions arises what should a student do to clear the exams.

Points to be taken care of to clear the CSEET Exams:

  • Start preparation of CSEET Exams at least 2.5 Months before the Exams
  • Syllabus must be completed at least 20-30 days before exams for revision
  • Go through ICSI provided MCQs Booklet at least twice before Exams
  • And lastly follow the instructions provided by ICSI while appearing in the Exams.

Note: Please note that many students fail in CSEET Exams not due to bad preparation but due to non-following of ICSI Instructions while appearing in Exams please follow the ICSI provided instructions carefully.
